The Good:This fan is attractive, has a lifetime motor warranty, and is completely silent.The Bad:For some reason, Casablanca decided to take something simple - a fan switch - and turn it into a complex, unintuitive control.I used to design customer interaction points, and this one is a classic fail. It's unattractive, and changing fan speeds often requires turning off the fan, then cycling through various speeds, each of which triggers a different pitch "beep" from the fan. What if I want to turn the fan up or down while my wife's asleep? Sorry--she wakes up. House guests can't understand how the control works, and there's no switch designed for people like me who only have the fan, not a light (the "Light" button at the top of the wall control confuses people, rightly so).Along with many others, I eagerly await Casablanca's update to the Intellitouch 3 wall control, because this one is a swing and a big miss. It's too bad, because the fan is otherwise a solid product.

I needed 3 ceiling fans for my house. After researching for a couple weeks, I chose an Emerson Avant Eco for my living room and two Casablanca Panama 6611z models for my bedrooms. Long story short, I would not have bought the Panamas if I had known about the annoying beep the fan makes when it changes speeds. The wall control is also somewhat limited and has (what I would call) 1980s technology. After turning it on, you have to hold down the fan button for it to speed up. When the fan changes speed, a tiny speaker in the fan itself emits a loud beep. After you reach the top speed, the only way to reduce the speed is to press the power button, leave it off for 5 seconds, then press the power button again and choose the speed by the fan button again (starting at the lowest speed). In other words, you cannot go back down on the speed.I also bought this model because you can program it to slow down during the night to compensate for cooler air, but again, the fan beeps when it changes speed, so you have the potential to be woken up every two hours by the fan.I contacted Casablanca and they told me there is no way to disable the beep. I had ordered these fans through another company (not Amazon) and they told me I could open up the fan housing and try to disable it, but that would probably void the warranty. I cannot return the fan I installed and the other one, I would have to pay for shipping and 30% restocking fee. I am writing this so hopefully you learn from my expensive $800 lesson. I will probably try and sell these Casablancas now on Craigslist and get two more Emersons.Besides the beep, the fan is quiet, but for $400 I would expect better controls. In contrast, the Emerson model is whisper quiet and came with a remote where the speed can be controlled up and down with a push of the button and there is no beeping. I would highly recommend looking at Emerson fans instead of Casablanca.

I have always wanted a Casablanca ceiling fan, and the time came to replace the ceiling fan in my bedroom. I chose the Panama model, in Brushed Nickel (model # 6645Z) with the Inteli*Touch3 wall control. I paired it with the Mahogany Standard Series 21" blades (50" total blade span, blade model # B202), the model # K4S light kit in Brushed Nickel, and the Vienne Nuage Blanc Satin glass shades (shades are model # G914). It looks great in my room, and the motor is the best you can buy today. The wall control system is pretty simple to operate, and the fan hardly wobbles and is totally silent. Of course, you know you're getting quality when you buy a Casablanca product. This fan is built just like all ceiling fans were before the days of cheap stamped steel, smaller motors, and fiberboard blades. This fan has real stainless steel components, a huge and high-performance motor, and real furniture-grade wooden blades. If you buy the Panama, or any other Casablanca fan, you most definitely won't be disappointed.
